PRESS RELEASE FOR GHANA INDEPENDENCE 6TH MARCH @ REX
Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Doneao, Lethal Bizzle and Tinie Tempah are among the all-star line-up set to perform at Ghana’s 53rd Independence Dance at The Rex Music Arena; hosted by Rich Promotions and Akwaaba UK in conjunction with MoneyGram International Money Transfer.
Ghana, the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence from British colonial rule, will be celebrating their 53rd year of independence on Saturday 6th March 2010.
Over 2,000 guests will be heading towards The Rex Music Arena [based in Stratford] on Saturday 6th March 2009, where they’ll be treated to an array of live performances from some of the UK’s best urban artists, including Chipmunk with his hit number one single ‘Oopsy Daisy’.
The annual celebration has seen performances by the likes of rapper extraordinaire Ms Dynamite and R&B songstress Keisha White in previous years, and is known to continually attract audiences from across the UK; proving to be one of the most anticipated events on the African Caribbean social calendar.
Richmond Agyekum, CEO Rich Promotions commented: “This year is no exception; as we have some of the best in what the UK urban music industry has to offer. The annual event has continually provided a platform for the likes of British-born Ghanaian artistes such as Tinchy Stryder, and other upcoming performers, to reach a wider audience.”
[Agyekum continues: “What better place to host such an event than in the heart of where cultural diversity lays – Newham.”]
On the evening there will also be performances by top Ghanaian musicians including Sarkodie and A.S.E.M as well as a fashion show and giveaways courtesy of MoneyGram International Money Transfer.
